In 2013 I had a very successful exhibition at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Ballina NSW.
This is one of the pieces I created for this exhibition. At the time I only had a small book press to print with and so any larger works were created as panels that could be fed through he press to print. I knew my hands were not strong enough to print by hand so a press is the only option. It worked well printing this way even with the limitations.

A few years earlier I had been invited to visit a small acreage Waratah farm just outside a small town near me with the generous offer to pick as many as I would like. I took a LOT of photos and brought a few blooms home to draw and work with. Unfortunately the property sold and the new owners systematically ploughed over the whole paddock of Waratahs which are in fact very difficult to grow in the Northern Rivers region. I was devastated! This design and print is one of the resulting artworks from that afternoon spent amongst the Waratahs.
I also made a video about the process of this print, it can be seen on YouTube.

These are the links to previous posts about this linocut and Waratahs as part of a documentation process of my artwork.
